What is Literacy: Families explore how literacy includes reading, writing, speaking, and thinking in daily life. They identify everyday literacy moments already happening at home.

Why Family Literacy Matters: Parents learn how shared reading and conversations boost children’s confidence and achievement. They reflect on simple ways to make literacy part of daily routines.

Sharing Your Story and Culture for Literacy: Families share personal or cultural stories to celebrate identity and connection. They explore ways to turn those stories into reading and writing activities at home.
Talk, Play, Grow Workshop

Decoding Words: Families learn fun ways to help children break down and sound out words while reading together.

Print Concepts: Parents explore how to teach book basics, helping children notice how print is organized and how pictures support the story.

Oral Language & Vocabulary: Families practice playful ways to build children’s language skills—through conversation, storytelling, and using new words in everyday talk.
Read Between The Rhymes

Rhyming: Families play word and sound games to help children hear patterns in language, a key step toward stronger reading and spelling.
