Santa Clara Unified School District | Family Resource Center | May 2025

Workshop Descriptions

Family Literacy Plan Workshop

  • What is Literacy: Families explore how literacy includes reading, writing, speaking, and thinking in daily life. They identify everyday literacy moments already happening at home.

  • Why Family Literacy Matters: Parents learn how shared reading and conversations boost children’s confidence and achievement. They reflect on simple ways to make literacy part of daily routines.

  • Sharing Your Story and Culture for Literacy: Families share personal or cultural stories to celebrate identity and connection. They explore ways to turn those stories into reading and writing activities at home.
